Comparative Dental Anatomy Models

This project was made for research by the dental student, Sarena Nguyen. Skull scans were made using an Artec Space Spider 3D scanner and edited in Zbrush by MSc Medical Art student Celeste Gaughan.

Comparative Dental Anatomy Skulls

These models compare human dental anatomy to that of animals with different diets. Included is a pig to represent omnivores, a dog to represent carnivores, and a roe deer to represent herbivores. Humans are omnivores, and similarities in types of teeth can be seen most with the pig.

This project was sculpted in Z brush by MSc Medical Art Student Mary Jo Eden, as a comparative learning tool. The 3D models can be accessed and turned in Sketch Fab by students and instructors.
