Sarena’s project investigates: “My MFOdont research project focuses on comparative dental anatomy - being the differences between human and non-human dentition - in the field of forensic odontology. The research provides a summary of the current free online visual anatomy resources available to forensic odontologists and other professionals, in addition to assessing the ability of practising odontologists in differentiating between human and non-human teeth. As field comparison of human and non-human teeth currently relies upon direct assessment of physical specimens (e.g. skulls and jaws from museum collections), the development of online 3D anatomy models could provide a more accessible avenue for comparative dental anatomy and further education.”
